Slender, gemmy quartz crystals rise from a matrix of intergrown rosettes of bladed hematite. Many of the quartz crystals have inclusions of hematite crystals inside, having engulfed them as they grew. The gently curving matrix gives this specimen a wonderfully aesthetic form.
