Bladed – Blade-like ends, slender and somewhat flattened

QuartzHematite Locality: Lechang Mine, Lechang County, Shaoguan Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China (Locality at mindat.org) Size: 9.9 x 6.4 x 3.9 cm. Slender, gemmy quartz crystals rise from a matrix of intergrown rosettes of bladed hematite. Many of the quartz crystals have inclusions of hematite crystals inside, having engulfed them as they grew. The gently curving matrix gives this specimen a wonderfully aesthetic form.
